NAMI Maine Annual Legacy Award 2025
“On November 21st, 2025, NAMI Maine had the honor of presenting a series of awards at the 2025 Annual Dinner, including the NAMI Maine Legacy Award. The Legacy Award is presented to individuals who advance NAMI Maine’s mental health mission in memory of a loved one. The 2025 Legacy Award was awarded to mental health advocates and philanthropists Sam and Sherri Kenton, founders of the Never Walk Alone Foundation.
Created in loving memory of their son, Andrew M. Casey, the Never Walk Alone Foundation has been a beacon of hope— championing suicide prevention, mental health awareness, and the belief that no one should ever struggle alone. Through their courage in sharing their family’s story, the Kentons work every day to break down stigma and encourage others to reach out for help and support.
For more than five years, the Never Walk Alone Foundation has been a cherished partner to NAMI Maine. Through the five-year history of their annual Never Walk Alone Golf Tournament they have not only created a space that embraces remembrance, family, connection and community, but have also raised $175,000 to strengthen mental health resources across Maine. Sam and Sherri, along with Ryan, Lauren, and their circle of friends and loved ones, have created a community that truly lives the message: Never Walk Alone.
NAMI Maine is honored to work with the Kenton Family and The Never Walk Alone Foundation to continue our shared mission of suicide prevention and mental wellbeing for all.

Community Member Spotlight
NAMI Maine is a community of individuals working together to bring hope, support, education, and advocacy to every Mainer impacted by mental health conditions. This past year, our community grew even stronger, as our fellow Mainers rally to support each other.
This month we highlight one of our fellow community members and their commitment to this cause!
Thank you for the kind hearts of Sam and Sherri Kenton.
It really does take a community! And together, we can make a difference and work to ensure no Mainer struggles alone.
